Every senior clinician at our clinic is trained at NIMHANS, Bengaluru — India's #1 ranked mental health institute. Our consultant clinical psychologist Garimaa Achalia is a Gold Medallist (both M.Sc. and B.Sc., University of Calcutta).
Dr. Rashmin Achalia has been recognised at psychiatry conferences in Italy, USA, Germany, and Mexico — a rare distinction for a clinician practising in a Tier-2 Indian city.
His foundational research on the Indian brain was published in the American Psychiatric Research Neuroimaging Journal, improving diagnostic precision for Indian patients.
Among the very few centres in Maharashtra offering rTMS, Neurofeedback, TaVNS, and ECT — all delivered with international protocols and rigorous safety standards.
No unnecessary tests, no over-medication. We follow strict evidence-based protocols and respect every patient's dignity, autonomy and confidentiality.
Mental health care that involves families, schools, and workplaces — because lasting recovery happens when the patient's whole ecosystem is supported.
Our multidisciplinary team combines decades of clinical experience with internationally recognised research excellence.
Dr. Rashmin Achalia has received five international awards at prestigious global psychiatry conferences — a rare distinction for a clinician practising in a Tier-2 Indian city.
Book a ConsultationThe clinic's research and clinical milestones have been widely covered by leading Marathi and English language newspapers.
For decades, psychiatric diagnoses in India were made using brain scan reference data from European and Chinese populations. Dr. Achalia's research changed that forever.
Brain scans of Indian, European, and Chinese patients revealed that the Indian brain is structurally distinct — smaller in volume, but with greater internal diversity. Using NIMHANS' 130 GB supercomputer, the team processed data from hundreds of patients across three continents.
Published in the American Psychiatric Research Neuroimaging Journal, the research means psychiatric diagnoses for Indian patients can now be compared against accurate Indian-brain reference data — improving diagnostic accuracy significantly.
The National Brain Research Centre in Haryana announced plans to develop a new nationwide prototype across 29 states based on Dr. Achalia's foundational research — a historic recognition of the work's national importance.
Building on the Indian Brain Template, Dr. Achalia's team demonstrated that combining neuro-imaging (fMRI, structural MRI) with artificial intelligence can raise psychiatric diagnostic accuracy from 60% to 87.5% — a transformative advance for patients with bipolar disorder and other complex conditions.

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is a non-invasive, drug-free neuromodulation therapy that uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate underactive areas of the brain involved in depression, OCD, anxiety and chronic pain. Achalia Neuropsychiatry Clinic was among the first in Marathwada to introduce clinically-validated rTMS protocols.
Our facility is also equipped with a deep TMS coil in addition to the standard figure-8 coil — used here for OCD and for post-stroke motor & cognitive rehabilitation. The deep coil reaches further into the cortex than the figure-8, broadening the therapeutic window for resistant cases.
Neurofeedback (also called EEG biofeedback) is a non-invasive brain training technique that uses real-time displays of brain activity to teach the brain to self-regulate. It is highly effective for ADHD, anxiety, learning difficulties, peak performance training, and as an adjunct in depression and PTSD therapy — especially powerful for children and adolescents.
Transcutaneous Auricular Vagus Nerve Stimulation (TaVNS) is a non-invasive form of vagus nerve stimulation delivered through a small electrode placed on the outer ear. The auricular branch of the vagus nerve runs just beneath the skin of the cymba conchae and tragus — gentle electrical pulses stimulate it without surgery, without medication, and without sedation. Achalia Neuropsychiatry Clinic is among the very few centres in Marathwada offering TaVNS as part of routine clinical care.
Our clinical psychology unit — led by Garimaa Achalia (M.Phil. Clinical Psychology, NIMHANS Bangalore; Gold Medallist in M.Sc. & B.Sc. Psychology, University of Calcutta) — is the only NIMHANS-trained clinical psychology service in Marathwada. We offer the full spectrum of psychological testing and psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults and the elderly.
Our integrated de-addiction programme combines medication-assisted treatment, motivational interviewing, relapse-prevention CBT and family work — with rTMS as an adjunct for craving reduction in selected patients. Special emphasis on the two largest contributors to disease burden in India: alcohol dependence and nicotine (tobacco) dependence.

Absolutely. All consultations, medical records, and personal information are protected by strict medical confidentiality and Indian healthcare privacy regulations. Information is shared with family members or third parties only with your explicit consent.
A first psychiatric consultation typically takes 45–60 minutes. This allows the doctor to take a detailed history, conduct necessary evaluations, and discuss a treatment plan with you. Follow-up consultations are usually 15–30 minutes.
Not necessarily. We follow evidence-based protocols and prescribe medication only when clinically indicated. Many patients benefit from psychotherapy, counselling, neuromodulation (rTMS / Neurofeedback) or lifestyle interventions either alone or alongside medication.
rTMS is non-invasive and well tolerated. Most patients experience only a mild tapping sensation on the scalp during sessions. There are no systemic side effects, no anaesthesia, and you can resume normal activities immediately afterwards. It is FDA and CE approved.
TaVNS (Transcutaneous Auricular Vagus Nerve Stimulation) is a non-invasive way to stimulate the vagus nerve through a small electrode placed on the outer ear — no surgery, no implant. We use it as an adjunct for treatment-resistant depression, drug-resistant epilepsy, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, migraine, long-COVID and post-stroke cognitive rehabilitation. Sessions last about 30 minutes and you can resume normal activity immediately.
Yes. We provide specialised paediatric and adolescent psychiatry services including ADHD, autism spectrum, learning disabilities, anxiety, and exam stress. Neurofeedback is particularly effective and child-friendly for ADHD and attention issues.
We provide all necessary documentation, prescriptions, and medical reports to help you claim reimbursement from your health insurance provider. Please check your specific policy for mental health coverage terms before your visit.
Online consultations can be arranged for follow-up patients via secure video platforms. Please WhatsApp +91 77096 43288 to schedule. First consultations are recommended in person for a comprehensive clinical evaluation.
